With the understanding that all that we have and all that we will ever have is a gift from God and God owns everything, as stewards, it would be wise to have a biblical strategy to pass on our assets wisely when we die. Barnabas Foundation, a kingdom-stewardship-focused ministry, through a partnership with TMAI will be providing our church with a free seminar on wills and trusts on Thursday evening, July 18. We all know a will is an important document that allows us to proactively provide for the needs of our loved ones, especially those who are dependent on us. The importance of this is clear as 1 Timothy 5:8 reads: “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” A completed, up-to-date will gives you and your family peace of mind, may minimize family disputes, and can prevent unnecessary expenses after you are gone. You can also include gifts to your favorite charitable causes.
Even though we know a will is important, it’s easy to get stuck on some of the difficult decisions involved with it. This 2-hour evening seminar will be open to anyone interested. Our own elder, Bart Bussell who has been a financial planner for a couple decades, shared that estates valued greater than $125,000 would also greatly benefit from setting up a trust. Travis Morrow, of the Barnabas Foundation has graciously offered to clearly explain the process of wills and trusts and help assist us in getting these documents in place.
This event is free of charge and is open to all. Please contact the chuch for more details.
